I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in working with women that are going through Maternal Depression. For over twelve years I have worked in the Maternal Child Health field.
I immigrated to this country on 1987 and lived in California where I completed my Masters in Social Work at the San Jose State University. After that I moved to Florida on 1997 and started providing individual, family and couples therapy in addition to teaching parenting skills. On 2005 I started working with women suffering from Maternal Depression.
As a mother and a professional I can understand, more than anything, the joys and the challenges that a baby can bring to the family. Becoming a parent is a big event and nobody really prepares us for it. We try to do our best in this new role: out of love, wisdom or intuition. It is during this time of adjustment that about 80% of women experience what is call baby blues and some 15% to 20% can develop Postnatal or Postpartum Depression.
I founded the Center not only to provide therapy to the women and their families seeking help but to provide guidance and orientation to new parents. The center is a place to start your emotional healing process, to acquire more knowledge on diverse parenting topics and to share your experiences with other parents.
In addition to providing individual therapy, I conduct seminars and workshops for professionals and the community.
